Frame tents were originally conceived as a design which eliminates the center pole or poles of a traditional pole tent. This is the main reason for this type tent. Ohenry Frame tents are heavy duty tents designed for the party tent rental industry. Ohenry frame tents are built with first quality materials. All Ohenry products comply with the California Fire Marshall's Office flame resistance requirements.

Which is best, a frame tent or a pole tent?

If you are considering purchasing a frame tent, there are a few things we would like to make you aware of so you can wisely choose between a frame tent and a pole tent.

Frame tents are normally more expensive than pole tents.
A pole tent is much more portable than a frame tent.
Pole tents are much easier to install than a frame tent.
Typical installation time for a 20x30 frame tent = 4- men 1.5 hours
Typical installation time for a 20x30 pole tent = 2-men 20 minutes
Typical installation time for a 40x80 frame tent = 10 men 6-7 hours
Typical installation time for a 40x80 pole tent = 2 men 1.5 hours
Frame tents are NOT "Free Standing" as sometimes advertised. They must be staked out just like a pole or tension structure must be. The only exception is for indoor use.
Pole tents will withstand higher wind loads than a frame tent.
The hardware on a frame tent is very specialized, including pieces which are either cast aluminum, or welded steel. If you lose or damage one of these pieces, your frame tent is useless until you can find a replacement part from the manufacturer.
The hardware on a pole tent (poles & stakes) is made of items which in a pinch you can find suitable replacement materials at any building material supply company. Rebar can be substituted for stakes, and a 2"x 4" with a large nail inserted in one end can substitute for a side pole.
Finally, the hardware on a frame tent is SIZE SPECIFIC. In other words, if you own a frame 20x20 and a 30x30, the parts do not interchange. You can imagine how frustrating all this can be when you are dealing with an expensive frame tent!
Frame tents do have some advantages for certain situations which do not allow complete staking.

Ohenry tents are specifically designed to endure the daily abuse of a rental environment. For 25 years we had a tent rental division, and we know first hand the abuse a rental tent can be subjected to.

All Ohenry tents are constructed with 100% American made products when possible. We refuse to use inferior and less expensive tent material, rope, webbings or hardware. A tent using inferior components will cost 60% less to manufacture, but simply will not last.

Please examine closely the perimeter "edge work" as well as the lace lines, corner fittings, center pole fittings and side pole fittings of any tent you are contemplating for purchase, regardless of the manufacturer. These are the areas where shortcuts are made to reduce cost of manufacturing. However, these are the most critical areas of tent construction, and any shortcuts made here will simply guarantee that the tent will not last as it should!

When you buy an Ohenry tent, you know the fabric is first run (no seconds) quality material. Our side walls are also constructed of 13 - 14 oz material. We do not use the inferior 10 oz material common to many manufacturers.
